Station Details
Station History
Lambda Station was constructed by Last Star Resources in 5385 and operated by them until 5762. During its operation lifetime, the station served as a hub for the mining operations in the system, which saw several lifeless worlds broken apart over the course of nearly four centuries. After resources in the system were exhausted to the point where it was no longer cost effective to maintain the station, it was abandoned and expected to eventually burn up as it fell into the system’s star.
Rather than being left to this fate, the station was taken over by squatters and converted into a trading post. The station subsequently drew the attention of organized criminal enterprises which remain active there to this day.
Travel Warning – Avoid Travel to Lambda Station if Possible
While Lambda Station lies within the territory of the Colonial Confederation travel to Lambda Station is strongly discouraged due to extreme crime rates. Visitors to the station are at an increased risk of both violent and non-violent crime including murder, assault, kidnapping, fraud, and identity theft.
The Interstellar Criminal Police Force (ISCPF) has no official presence on the station, and all criminal matters are handled by local authorities. Be advised that the station government as well as local police and security forces are known to have ties to organized crime and should be considered unreliable.
Travelers returning from Lambda Station should verify that their flight plans are properly registered and be prepared to face heightened scrutiny when passing through planetary customs.
Also be aware that Lambda Station has serious maintenance deficits, travelers should be prepared to deal with variable gravity and atmospheric conditions.
If you must travel to Lambda Station, make appropriate arrangements and take heightened precautions to protect yourself:
- Consult the Ministry of State High Risk Travel Program.
- Establish a personal security plan with your employer or consider employing a professional security organization.
- Restrict your movements to safer areas of the station; please consult the latest crime and safety reports for details.
- Carry an emergency breathing device in case of unexpected decompression or poor air quality.
- Consider arming yourself; Lambda Station allows concealed and open carrying of weapons in most areas without a permit. Criminals on the station are known to target unarmed individuals.
Addendum
The following are historical memoranda that provide insight into interstellar law enforcement policies regarding Lambda Station.
Confidential Memorandum
Authorized Personnel Only
To: Director and all Regional Directors, Interstellar Criminal Police Force (ISCPF)
From: Office of the Deputy Director, Council Ministry of Justice
Date: April 4, 5845
Subject: Council Directive J-67442, Regarding Enforcement Policies on and Within Proximity of Lambda Station
Changes to Existing Policy
As most of you are aware, since Lambda Station was abandoned by Last Star Resources nearly a century ago, there has been a population of unauthorized habitants growing on the station. That population now totals over ten million, many of which have criminal records. Accompanying that growing population has been an increase in crime on the station and in the surrounding area. Our efforts to curb this increasing crime have proven unsuccessful, having been hampered by uncooperative local authorities and station residents. These efforts have resulted in excessive expenditures relative to the population of the region, and it has been determined that they are no longer warranted and would be better allocated elsewhere.
Council Directive J-67442 has outlined new enforcement policies for Lambda Station and the surrounding region. As of this date, all enforcement operations on Lambda Station are to cease, and all ISCPF personnel are to withdraw from the station. All matters of security and law enforcement on the station are to be handed over to station security personnel. ISCPF forces are not to engage, interdict, or otherwise harass any vessel within one parsec of Lambda Station without the authorization of the Station Administration. Additionally, vessels approaching or leaving Lambda Station along certain flight paths are also to be left alone without authorization (Specific information on flight paths will follow in additional memoranda.)
Responsibilities of ISCPF Forces Going Forward
From this date forward efforts to curtail criminal activity in the region will be directed toward preventing it from spreading to surrounding colonies. ISCPF forces are still authorized to engage, interdict, and search any vessels deviating from the aforementioned flight paths. Any vessels traveling from Lambda Station to other planets or installations within the Colonial Confederation must have an authorized flight plan and may be subject to search by police and customs authorities without additional cause. Any vessels without an authorized flight plan are to be interdicted and impounded. A detailed outline of the new policies is awaiting final approval and will be available shortly.
While I am certain there will be many objections to these changes, they are final. Additional details will follow along with the outline within the next few days. Questions regarding these operations should be directed to the Office of the Assistant Director for Deep Space Enforcement.
Lewis P. Riemann,
Deputy Director
Memorandum
To: All Command Personnel, Interstellar Criminal Police Force (ISCPF), Regional Security and Police Forces and Planetary Security and Police Forces
From: Office of the Assistant Director for Deep Space Enforcement, Council Ministry of Justice
Date: December 3, 5845
Subject: Update Regarding Enforcement Policies on and Within Proximity of Lambda Station
New Policies
An agreement has been reached regarding the pursuit of fugitives attempting to escape to Lambda Station. From this point forward, all police and security forces actively engaged in the pursuit of a suspect may travel to Lambda Station in pursuit and arrest suspects there. The Administration of Lambda Station must be notified of such pursuits and operations on Lambda Station are strictly restricted to the apprehension of the suspects being pursued. Aside from self-defense, no further actions are authorized including interference in criminal activities if observed.
Be advised, cooperation of local authorities cannot be relied upon, and the safety of personnel is not guaranteed. Police and Security personnel should use their own discretion when deciding whether or not to pursue.

Assistant Director for Deep Space Enforcement
