ECHO BASE: Confirmed Echo 5, you are invisible. Echo 1, you are clear to proceed with operation.
ECHO 1 (DEMIR): Acknowledged. Echo 2, confirm path is clear.

News Report
The following is an Interstellar News Service (ISNS) report made several days after the events of Operation Emerald Night.
RACHEL DAWSON (ANCHOR): We continue with our coverage of last week’s devastating explosion in City of Linpeg in the Cestus system. As most of us are aware, last week a massive explosion tore through part of the city, leveling several buildings. Official reports put the final death toll at 1140. Now we have an official determination on the cause of that blast. Officials are telling us that the blast originated from a terrorist bomb making lab hidden in a shielded area beneath the district. The newly released information also said that all indications tie the facility to the Cestus Liberation Front, which has been responsible for a number of increasingly violent protests and skirmishes over the last fourteen months. Officials are also saying that Paul Kelsey, the effective head of the Cestus Liberation Front was killed in the blast. Mr. Kelsey was known for speaking out against violence, and had called for a stop to the violent protests that had gripped the system. Authorities had long suspected that this was only a cover but had lacked sufficient evidence to tie him to the groups more violent factions. For further analysis we go to Retired Captain Antonio Gimondi, now Vice-Chairman of the independent Colonial Affairs Research Council. Captain Gimondi, glad to have you with us today.
CAPTAIN GIMONDI: Thank you, happy to be here, wish it was under better circumstances.
RACHEL DAWSON (ANCHOR): What do you make of these latest developments?
CAPTAIN GIMONDI: Unfortunately, with the deteriorating situation in the Cestus System, it was probably only a matter of time before something like this happened. We’ve had two years of freedom protests; then fourteen months ago the rioting started and it’s only gotten worse. The Cestus Liberation Front may have started out as a political movement, but in the wake of those riots it has become little more than a terrorist organization. In recent months we have seen increasing attacks against military and government targets, some of which have turned into outright skirmishes. I wish I could say this surprises me, but it doesn’t. As for Paul Kelsey… look we’ve long suspected his activities but been unable to prove them, but a bomb factory going up underneath his feet, I’d say that removes all doubt.
RACHEL DAWSON (ANCHOR): The official report says that this explosion appears to be the result of an anti-neutron device, how would terrorists have gotten their hands on something like that?
CAPTAIN GIMONDI: I need to be careful here not to touch on any classified information. But first, this was not a complete anti-neutron device. If it was, we would be looking at an entire section of the city being leveled, not just a few buildings. Also because of security surrounding such devices it would be all but impossible for anyone to steal one. More likely they got their hands on some designs and equipment, and then tried to build their own without realizing how dangerous what they were doing was. Any containment breach results in detonation. These devices are so dangerous that it is strictly forbidden to produce or store them on inhabited planets.
RACHEL DAWSON (ANCHOR): What would the Cestus Liberation Front possibly want with such a weapon?
CAPTAIN GIMONDI: If I had to guess, they were planning on hitting a fortified military installation, there really is no other reason to use such a device. I think it’s important to…
RACHEL DAWSON (ANCHOR): Sorry Captain, I have to interrupt you, we have a breaking report. Timothy Gunn, a senior leader in the Cestus Liberation Front has surrendered to authorities and is calling on others to do the same and the group to disband, saying quote, “We started this for a free Cestus System, and we ended up killing a thousand innocent people. I believed Paul Kelsey when he called for peace, I believed in the dream of a free Cestus, he lied to everyone, and I’m ashamed I ever had anything to do with him.” End quote. We also have incoming reports that other factions of the CLF have issued official statements denying any knowledge of this bomb lab and claiming they had nothing to do with it. In the wake of this investigation report some are renewing claims that the blast was a setup, insisting that Paul Kelsey would never have had anything to do with this. Going back to Captain Gimondi, what do you make of these latest developments?
CAPTAIN GIMONDI: They know they’re in trouble. Let’s face it, this reeks of desperation. Their bomb making lab went up flames and so is their public backing. They are doing everything they can trying to avoid a loss of public support, but in the wake of this, I don’t see that being possible. Sure, you’ll have some fanatics that this will galvanize, but when they start losing the broad support they won’t be able to keep going. The CLF may have just killed itself.
